Monroe Shock Absorbers

Barossa Brakes & Suspension specialise in Monroe suspension, as well as brakes.  They also do auto repairs, ball joints, tie rods and more.

Located at Tanunda, in South Australia, they also service the Barossa Valley, Gawler and Riverland areas.

The most technologically advanced shock absorbers.

Monroe GT Gas with exclusive Reflex technology gives optimum levels of performance and comfort.

Faster.

  • Unique Reflex Valving ensures the shock absorber reacts much faster to changing road conditions.
  • Even the slightest bump is sensed by Reflex and rapidly adjusts to ensure your car's tyres stay on the road.

Smoother.

  • Faster valve reaction minimises the tyre movement so there's less bounce or vibration.
  • Reflex technology reacts the moment movement is detected (instead of after) and pushes the tyre back onto the road before it moves any great distance, so tyres move less and the ride feels smoother.

Safer.

  • Reflex shocks react to road conditions much faster and ensure tyre contact with the road's surface is maximised.
  • More tyre on the road more often means a safer ride.

"If your shock absorbers don't work, neither do your brakes and tyres."

Shock absorbers... What are they and what do they do?

  • Shock absorbers are bolted to your car's wheel and chassis.
  • Without shock absorbers, the slightest bump would make your tyres bounce.  And keep bouncing.
  • That continual bouncing means your tyres intermittently leave the road making it harder to steer and brake.
  • Shock absorbers minimise the bounce by pushing your car's tyres onto the road and keeping them there.

Shock absorbers and your brakes

  • You can stop your car 20% faster if you have new shocks (compared to worn ones).
  • Shock absorbers gradually wear and performance decreases.
  • Worn shock absorbers result in your car's tyres having less contact with the road.  So it takes much longer to stop because your tyres virtually hop across the road when you brake.
  • When travelling at 50km/h, just one worn shock absorber can add as much as 2 metres to your stopping distance.

Shock absorbers and your tyres

  • When driving over uneven road surfaces, your tyres momentarily bounce off the roads' surface.
  • Shock absorbers are designed to react to that movement and push your tyres firmly back onto the road in a fraction of a second.
  • As your shocks wear, it takes them much longer to push your tyres back.
  • Worn shocks therefore mean your tyres grip less and make it harder to steer.

Shock absorbers and your comfort

  • Shock absorbers aren't designed to give you a comfortable, soft ride.
  • Shock absorbers continually react to road conditions and work hard to keep your tyres on the road surface.
  • Monroe shock absorbers are balanced to give you the best of both world's - road hugging performace and a smoother ride.
  • Remember, the 'softer' the ride, the less effective the shock absorber.

There's a Monroe shock absorber to fit almost every car on Australia's Roads.

Monroe makes shocks and struts for over 97% of cars in Australia like:
